The Historic Hopewell Store It has been a challenge to pin down exactly how old the store is.. but we are sure it is over 100 years old. Apparently it was a general store for most of its incarnations (many neighbors and visitors have shared fond memories of coming to the store when they were kids with their parents and grandparents.) It is clear, though, it was at one time also a burrito and taco shop (We still have the sign).
When Lizzie acquired the store at the end of 2017, it had been empty for years (since 2012?) It seemed the previous owner just walked out and left everything on the shelves. So when we first saw it, there were cans of soup, vegetables and chili on the shelves, bottles of soda and beer in the coolers and the leftovers of lots of rats' nests! The north roof was leaking and as a result the kitchen floor had decayed and was falling in. We have to admit that it was not inspiring and quite a few of us doubted Lizzie's sanity! But she had a vision and immediately began manifesting it!
