Introducing November Featured Artist
Janet Swan

I began working with Birds and animals in 1979 at Six Flags Magic Mountain where I performed educational animal shows both in the park and traveling to schools. My love for birds began then, but grew when I became nursery supervisor at a large parrot facility, it was there that I handraised 1,000’s of baby parrots. I was also a zookeeper at the Oregon Zoo for many years. My desire to care for animals runs deep.

I got my first pair of parrots (African greys) in 1981 and my flock of parrots grew to over 200 for awhile.

I have raised many species of macaws, cockatoos, African greys, Amazon parrots, eclectus and cockatiels.

Currently, I have 22 parrots and 2 pheasants in my care, most of them my original birds or some of my own babies. They range in age from 28-65.

Parrots have long lives and my goal is to give them a home to the end

By using their naturally molted feathers to create fans, earrings, hat pins and hair clips, I can continue to feed and care for them.

All proceeds go to their food and care
